musical support for a low price

OnePlus has released a set of new high-end in-ear headphones at an attractive price. But do attractively priced headphones also provide good sound, and what features do the OnePlus Buds Pro have to offer? You can read it in our OnePlus Buds Pro review.

OnePlus Buds Pro review

The Buds Pro from OnePlus come in a rectangular box containing the necessary accessories that you expect with a set of in-ear headphones, such as different sizes of ear pieces, a charging cable and a short manual. The in-ears themselves are stored in a white or black case depending on which color you decide to buy.

Pairing the Buds Pro actually goes very smoothly, with a OnePlus device you will even receive a pop-up that the in-ears have been found asking if you want to pair. By pressing the button in the case, you can also pair these in-ears with non-OnePlus devices.

Sound quality

In terms of sound quality, we are quite satisfied for earplugs that carry a suggested retail price of 149 euros. The bass sounds warm and the bass tones come into its own. The middle sounds a bit ordinary, voices don’t really pop out of the music. The highs feel a bit out of balance on Cutting Crews – I died in your arms or Roxette’s The Look. If we take some more recent tracks such as Lil Nas X – Thats what I want or Calvin Harris’s By your side, the warm layer of the Buds Pro does lift the music to a nice listening level.

The active noise canceling feature of the OnePlus Buds Pro works well, but we notice that we do notice travel noises during a train journey. And even when walking on the street, the in-ears are not completely “quiet”. You do have three different noise canceling modes, with the headphone choosing the best mode in the “smart” mode. On the other hand, the “transparent” mode does its job well.

What’s too bad about the OnePlus Buds Pro is that you can’t find any personal equalizer settings. There is a fit test available in the app, but, for example, tempering the high slightly is not included. With the lower part of the in-ears you can control your music or skip. You do this by squeezing the stem briefly.

App & battery life

When you use a OnePlus (8) device, the settings for the headphone can be found in the Bluetooth settings of the device. This is a bit of a search and not very user-friendly. After all, you have to dive into an entire menu. For non OnePlus devices, there is the HeyMelody application that allows you to change the settings of the Buds Pro more quickly.

We are satisfied with the battery life on a charge, which takes an average of 5.5 hours, depending on the use of Active noise canceling and the volume. The good thing is that with the case you have an average of 30 hours of music. After that, you have to charge the case again with the included USB-C cable. After about ten minutes of charging you can certainly go another day (~4 hours)!

Judgement

If you like to listen to pop & dance music from the past ten years, then the Buds Pro are certainly not bad in-ears. If you prefer to listen to 80s music, you will notice that the highs feel a bit out of balance. You get a set of in-ear headphones that last a long time at a very competitive price. You can find the OnePlus Buds Pro in the OnePlus webshop, Knaldealsen Bol.com!
