Motorola presents Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro and Edge 20 Lite

Three new models have just been announced by Motorola. With the Motorola Edge 20 series, the manufacturer is talking about devices with the best camera, the best display, an excellent battery life and all that with the fast 5G network. What do the Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro and Edge 20 Lite all offer?

Motorola has just presented the successors to the Motorola Edge smartphone announced last year. The brand has announced no fewer than three models that are part of the new Motorola Edge 20 series. These are the Motorola Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro and the Edge 20 Lite. We have listed the details of the three devices for you.

Motorola Edge 20 Pro

As you may expect, the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is the most comprehensive model in the series. To offer you the very best photo quality, the smartphone has an advanced camera on board with a 108 megapixel main camera. Again, Ultra Pixel technology is applied here, where every nine pixels are combined into one pixel for even more detail. The second camera is a wide angle lens, the third a periscope telephoto lens. It is possible to zoom in 5x, and 50x digital zoom. For the first time at Motorola, the device can film in 8K.

Furthermore, we see from the rest of the specifications that we are really dealing with a high-end device. The smartphone will have a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a refresh rate of 144Hz. This makes it higher than many other high-end devices, which offer 120Hz. Thanks to the Snapdragon 870 chipset, you are assured of high-end specifications, including support for the 5G network. Motorola gives the Motorola Edge 20 Pro 256GB of storage space, along with 12GB of RAM. You can charge the 4500 mAh battery with 30W.

The new Motorola Edge 20 is only 6.99 millimeters thick and also offers a 6.7-inch screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. The 108 megapixel main camera is also present on the device, along with a wide-angle and macro lens. There is a Snapdragon 778 chipset, with 5G support and supplemented with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Motorola smartphone also offers a 4020 mAh battery with 30W fast charging.

Then there is also the entry-level model, which is given the name Motorola Edge 20 Lite. This device also has 5G on board, just like a MediaTek chipset and a 108 megapixel camera. A wide-angle and macro lens are also present on the phone. Like the two other devices, the device will have a 6.7-inch OLED screen, although it will receive a 90Hz refresh rate from the factory. There is 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a 5000 mAh battery. As with the two other Motorola Edge 20 models, you can fast charge this one with 30W.

Extras and updates

Motorola promises additional functionality for the Motorola Edge 20 and the Motorola Edge 20 Pro. Both models get Audi0 zoom while filming, and can film or photograph with both the front and rear camera at the same time. There is also a super slow motion at 960fps. Selfies in dark environments should also come out fine. There is also support for Ready For, the platform we discussed earlier in the Moto G100 review. This allows you to link the phone to the large screen, which can be useful in various circumstances.

We also see the handy Moto tools. For example, you can take a screenshot with three fingers, shake and rotate the device for the camera and flashlight and other Moto tools are also available. Furthermore, thanks to My UX you can personalize many things such as the font, colors and shapes. For example, by double tapping the fingerprint scanner on the side, a route home can be immediately planned with Google Maps.

In terms of updates, Motorola is also clear this time. The three devices from the Motorola Edge 20 series come with Android 11 on the market. They can expect two Android OS updates each and a minimum of 2 years worth of security updates.

Motorola releases the Motorola Edge 20 Pro for 699.99 euros in the Netherlands. You can choose from the colors Midnight Blue and Iridescent White. A blue Vegan Leather color should be available on a limited basis. Both the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Pro will be available from the end of August. The price of the Edge 20 is 499.99 euros and is available in the colors Frosted Gray and Frosted White. Motorola itself still sells the color Frosted Emerald. With the Motorola Edge 20 Lite you can choose from the color Electric Graphite and it costs 349.99 euros. This smartphone will be available from the beginning of September.
