In the meantime, we are fully looking forward to the Android 12 update and the improvements that this update will bring. The second Beta recently received an additional update, but the stable version will not be ready until August. However, we must not forget that a lot of phones still have to get Android 11, such as the Moto G 5G Plus that appeared in August of 2020 and therefore came on the market with Android 10.

Android 12 is now finally there, says AW reader Pieter who has received the update on his Moto G 5G Plus. The software has version number ‘RPN31.Q4U-39-27-8’, and it takes up 1.08 GB. The update also updates Android security to the April security patch at the same time. The update should be visible in a notification, but you can also have it appear manually from Settings > System > System updates.

New features

Android 11 brings a lot of improvements to the Motorola Moto G 5G Plus. There is a new notification system for messaging apps called “Bubbles.” Furthermore, there is a new menu to control your smart home devices and user privacy is also improved. You can now give apps permission once to, for example, the camera or microphone of your phone.

There are more brands that roll out the Android 11 update to their phones very late, and Motorola is one of them. For example, owners of the Moto G series are still waiting for the update, but also for users who have the more expensive Edge series, the patience remains. Motorola previously shared an overview of all devices that can expect the update. If you have received the update to Android 11 on your Motorola device, please let the editors know via this route.
