Motorola Edge successors on the way, these are all known specifications

Motorola’s return to the higher midrange and high-end segment with the Edge series continues. Three devices with code names Berlin, Kyoto and Pstar are on their way to appear in the Motorola Edge series in due course. Well-known rumor maker EvLeaks managed to publish the first specifications on Friday, here’s what you need to know.

Motorola Edge and Edge+

Of the two-headed Edge duo, only the Motorola Edge appeared in the Netherlands last year. This year Motorola seems to want to expand its Edge range considerably. Motorola has four models in the pipeline, of which one model – the Berlin North America – will only be released in North America. Other models are expected to launch globally or in specific other markets, including Europe, according to a rumored image EvLeaks.

Motorola’s Edge Kyoto is likely to be the cheapest device in the Edge range, while the Berlin will occupy a place in the high-end segment, and the Pstar – formerly known as Sierra – will serve the high-end segment. Motorola’s Edge Pstar seems to be the successor to Moto’s Edge Plus. Prices of the phones are still unknown, but we will list the specifications below.

Motorola Edge Berlin specifications

Motorola may be one of the first manufacturers to put Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chipset to work in its phones. Linked to the successor of Qualcomm’s ‘Snapdragon’ 765G chip, we find 6 or 8 GB of working memory, with 128 or 256 GB storage memory respectively. Finally, under the hood of Motorola’s Edge Berlin we find a 4,000 mAh battery. No details have yet been disclosed about battery charging rates.

We did find out that Motorola provides the Edge Berlin with a 6.67-inch screen with a Full HD + resolution (2,460 x 1,080 pixels) and a 120 Hz refresh rate. In the screen on the Motorola Edge Berlin, a hole-punch notch is provided for a 32 MP selfie camera. On the back of the phone we find another camera module, with a 108 MP main camera, 16 MP wide-angle camera and an 8 MP telephoto sensor with three times optical zoom.

Motorola Edge Kyoto specifications

Motorola positions the Edge Berlin as the successor to the original Edge, while the Edge Kyoto will serve in the lower price ranges. Motorola saved for this, among other things, on the chipset, because the device is powered by a lower positioned MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip. In addition, the screen on the Edge Kyoto ‘only’ has a 90 Hz refresh rate. It is unknown how large the screen is, with a Full HD + resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels). Presumably it is a larger screen – the phone will get a 5,000 mAh battery, which will be considerably larger than the 4,000 mAh copy in the Edge Berlin.

Other details of the phone include the 108MP main camera on the back of the Edge Kyoto, the 8MP wide-angle camera and the 2MP depth camera for the camera module on the back of the phone. As with the Edge Berlin, the Edge Kyoto includes a 32MP selfie camera on the front that will take place in the dedicated hole-punch notch. It is also known that the phone comes with 128 GB storage memory, coupled with 6 GB or 8 GB working memory.

Motorola Edge Pstar specifications

The most powerful device is saved for last. Motorola has knocked on Qualcomm’s door for the Edge Pstar to purchase the Snapdragon 870 chipset, a chipset that was previously used by Poco in the midrange positioned F3. Other specifications also indicate that it is a high-end device, such as the 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with its ‘integrated’ in-display fingerprint scanner. The screen also has a 120 Hz refresh rate and a Full HD + resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels).

Motorola also seems to want to prove itself in the camera department and has provided the Edge Pstar with an extensive camera setup. For the main camera, Motorola uses a 108 MP sensor and the wide-angle camera – which also serves as a macro camera – has a 16 MP resolution. There is also a third camera – an 8 MP telephoto camera with five times optical zoom. Finally, at the front we find the 32 MP selfie camera in the centered hole-punch notch.

Motorola Edge successors on the way, these are all known specifications

Finally, on the specification list of the Motorola Edge Plus successor, we find details about the 4,500 mAh battery and the storage configurations, with a choice of 6 GB, 8 GB or 12 GB working memory with 128 or 256 GB storage memory. It is unknown which configurations will end up in Europe. It also remains unknown whether Motorola plans to introduce the Edge Pstar in the Benelux.
