1. Same update policy
Motorola says it himself: “Our customers find the update policy less important than good specifications in their smartphone, so we focus on the latter.” The fact that Motorola’s update policy is not progressing very well and is not ‘edgy’ at all, is shown by the fact that these phones are both released with Android 12. The brand promises two major updates, which means that the device will no longer be available after Android 14. can join the rest. In addition, you get three years of security updates to ensure that your phone does not become a victim of hackers. It is not an abysmal update policy, but especially in combination with the fact that Motorola is never that fast with the new Android version, it is far from ideal.

2. Same software
We now know that both devices will come with Android 12 out of the box, but there’s another similarity as they both have Motorola’s MyUX shell over that OS. It is a very popular variant, because Motorola keeps it minimalist. You don’t get all the fuss options and bloatware on your device: everything remains well-arranged and clear. In addition, there are many options to use the device to your taste, including using all kinds of gestures.

3. Same screen quality
The smartphones are not the same size, but the quality of both screens is the same. Both devices have a beautiful OLED screen with rich colors. The resolution is at 2,400 x 1,080 pixels and the contrast is superb. The brightness of both screens is very good: the difference between a low brightness and a high brightness is also very large, which is nice for the difference between a sunny day and an evening in a dark theater. The difference between these devices in terms of screen is in the edges: Fusion has curved edges and Neo is straight down. Our editors already have different preferences for these screens, so that will also be a personal choice for you.

Differ
1. Different sizes
Secretly there is a difference in terms of screens and that has everything to do with the sizes of the devices. The Edge 30 Neo is 6.28 inches and therefore more suitable for smaller hands than the Edge 30 Fusion with its 6.55 inches. Neo is more comfortable to hold due to its smaller size, while Fusion offers a better experience if you want to watch a series on Netflix, for example.
2. Different processors
The Edge 30 Neo is cheaper than Edge 30 Fusion, which you notice in the choice of processor, among other things. Fusion is much faster, which is partly because it has a Snapdragon 888 Plus processor under the hood. It is certainly not the newest or fastest Android chip, but it is a very good processor that excels in performance. Neo is definitely the lesser with its Snapdragon 695 chip. Where you have a good gaming experience on Fusion (games demand the most from a processor), you notice that Neo occasionally clearly has trouble running a game properly. It is occasionally a somewhat choppy experience, but this is never disturbing. Moreover, the device is also much cheaper, so we are not surprised about this big difference in performance.

3. Different cameras
The camera islands of both devices are almost identical, but the cameras are not. Both devices are equipped with a main camera and a wide-angle lens, where the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion can count on a 50-megapixel sensor and the Edge 30 Neo a 64-megapixel sensor, in terms of wide-angle lens, both are equipped with 13 megapixels.

Motorola really tries to market Neo as a hip device (that’s why only this device appears in Pantone’s purple color of the year) and photography for social media plays a major role in this. However, that does not mean that Neo excels more with its higher number of megapixels. You can see the differences below. Neo clearly has a lot of trouble zooming in and especially when you take the picture, it seems to be very out of focus. Once it’s snapped and you look at it, luckily it’s not too bad. Fusion is a more pleasant device in terms of photography: the photos are less faded and the better processor probably also plays a role here.
4. Different batteries
The Fusion is not only the star in terms of photography: it is also in battery capacity. The battery is 4,400 mAh versus Neo’s 4,020 mAh. Both are not very large batteries, but they will get you through the day. At least if you don’t want to shoot constantly. Nice detail is that you get a charger of 68 Watt included with both smartphones, with which you can quickly recharge both devices. Neo can also charge wirelessly: Fusion cannot.

The choice is yours
You now know the main similarities and differences between Motorola Edge 30 Fusion and Neo. With its smaller size and cool purple color, Neo is a very nice device for people who want to spend less money on their smartphone, the slightly more mature Fusion is more suitable for people who ask more of their phone in the form of gaming or photography.
