Mobvoi TicWatch E3 Gets Wear 4100 Chipset, Launches June 16

The Wear OS season seems to be open. Recently, it was announced that OPPO is working on a new Wear OS watch with the Snapdragon Wear 4100. This time, a video hints at the arrival of a new TicWatch E watch from Mobvoi with the Wear 4100, the TicWatch E3. There also seems to be light at the end of the waiting period, as the watch will be launched on the market in the foreseeable future.

Mobvoi TicWatch E3

After the launch of the Snapdragon Wear 4100 and Wear 4100+, Mobvoi introduced the TicWatch Pro 3. As of this writing, it is the only Wear 4100 smartwatch on the market. Other Wear OS watches released in the past year still run on the ‘Wear 3100’ chipset. Almost nine months after the launch of the TicWatch Pro 3, it is once again Mobvoi that will use the Wear 4100 chipset for a Wear OS smartwatch, XDA-Developers writes.

Via Twitter, Mobvoi hinted at the launch of . on Friday evening a new smartwatch. Details about the smartwatch it would launch have remained scarce. A video from (Russian) Instagram user andrey_koftun – who was spotted by XDA – shows both the packaging and design of the smartwatch that will be sold as the TicWatch E3. Presumably the E3 is the watch being teased by Mobvoi on Twitter.

Based on the video of the TicWatch E3, it can be concluded that the design of the ‘E3’ has many similarities with the TicWatch Pro 3. The smartwatch offers a round screen, while we encounter two buttons on the right side of the watch. Just like on the Pro 3, Mobvoi supplies a silicone strap with the smartwatch and with the watch we also find the charger that can charge the battery via the pogo pins on the back of the watch.

Comprehensive health measurements

On the back of the smartwatch we also find the necessary sensors to measure your heart rate 24/7. In addition to heart rate measurements, the watch also offers the possibility to keep track of oxygen levels in your blood, measure your stress levels, track your nighttime rhythm and calculate your VO2 Max based on the measured and entered data.

In addition to the health aspects, the box of Mobvoi’s TicWatch E3 also contains information about the watch itself. For example, it is known that the smartwatch uses ’rounded 2.5D glass’ and that it is given an IP68 rating – so the watch is water and dust resistant. Finally, it is known that the watch contains a speaker and microphone, but no OLED panel, the Russian Instagram user reports in his video. That would be striking, given that the TicWatch E2 still came with an OLED screen.

Launch and availability

For all details, Mobvoi has not confirmed the information and could therefore change a few things. On June 16, Mobvoi will announce all the details about the TicWatch E3, including the price. Presumably this is lower than the price of the TicWatch Pro 3, which is currently sold for under 300 euros.

What do you think of the TicWatch E3? Is it a watch you would buy, or would you rather wait until Wear OS is updated at the end of this year before buying a new watch? Let us know in the comments at the bottom of the article.
