Activate Minecraft cheats and enter
To enable the input of commands in Minecraft, you must first activate the cheat function. In both single and multiplayer modes you do this when generating a new world. Just press the gray button “Allow cheats” before starting the game and you’re good to go.
Do you want Activate cheats later, that’s not a problem either. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Press the Esc key.
- Click in the menu at the bottom right “Open in LAN”.
- Here you can again Turn cheats on and off.
Note that you have to repeat these steps every time you restart the game.
How can you enter cheats? In the running game you just press the T buttonwhenever you want to activate commands. This will open the chat window. Here you now enter the corresponding cheats (see lists below). You always have to type a command starting with a slash (“/”).
Thanks to the auto-completion, Minecraft suggests commands in different categories after entering the slash, through which you can switch with the tab key.
All commands, commands and cheats (list)
Below we give you one Overview of all commands, commands and cheats in Minecraft with their effects and input examples. Since certain values have to be entered when entering data, this can be confusing.
For example, if coordinates are needed, press F3 to open the Debug menu. This is where the coordinates of a block appear on the screen when you point the cursor on it. If you need certain item IDs for commands, linked lists will help you.
In addition, for some commands you have to define a certain target selection of players or creatures. You can enter the name of a player here, for example, but there are also the following abbreviations to make it easier for you:
- @p – Concerns the player who is closest to you.
- @a – Affects all players.
- @r – Affects a randomly selected player.
- @e – Affects all players, creatures, and items.
- @s – Concerns yourself.
