Middle class with interesting features

Huawei is slowly starting to sell new Huawei FreeBuds 4 wireless headphones, which will complement the current offer of this manufacturer. The novelty attracts several interesting improvements.

Among them, ergonomic design for maximum comfort in long-term use, sophisticated system of active suppression of ambient noise (headphones can block up to 25 dB of noise) or high quality sound reproduction with a strong bass component come to the fore.

The headphones use an open design without rubber extensions, 14.3 mm dynamic transducers and a 40 kHz control unit to achieve high sound quality. The manufacturer also highlights their “fly weight”, as each of the headphones weighs only 4.1 grams, which is again to signify good ergonomics.

4 hours on a single charge, dual connection

The charging case is designed to fit in the palm of your hand, so it slips easily into your pocket and everyone can take their music anywhere. As for endurance, it should reach 4 hours per charge, but if we take into account the additional energy stored in the case, the total endurance will be extended up to 22 hours.

Of course, this is based on the assumption of recharging, but since the vast majority of users will carry the case with them, there will be no need for enough energy. According to the technical specifications, a 15-minute wireless charge should suffice for 2.5 hours of listening. It should take up to 7 hours to charge with the cable.

An interesting feature is the ability to pair with two devices at once and dynamically switch between them according to current needs. As an example of using this option, Huawei cites a situation where a user watches a movie and their phone rings, in which case the headphones should be connected automatically and used for the call.

In short, you have paired them with two devices, and the headphones can automatically identify which one to play the output from at a given moment.

Optimal setting for each ear

Also worth mentioning are the IPX4 durability certification, touch control via gestures, automatic playback interruption after removing the headphones from the ears or the accompanying Huawei AI Life application, which you need to reach for the full use of all the possibilities of the headphones.

The connection to the devices is ensured by Bluetooth 5.2 and there is also technology for ear adaptation. In practice, the shape of the wearer’s ear and the way the headphones are worn should be detected. This information is then used to automatically set the best mode to suppress ambient noise.

The Huawei FreeBuds 4 headphones are to follow on from the previous generation of FreeBuds 3, whose proven features are taken a step higher. In the manufacturer’s offer, they should belong to the middle class, between a pair of FreeBuds 4i and FreeBuds Pro, which means, among other things, that they will attract a fairly attractive price – 135 €.
