Marry

This conversation, times fifty or so, Casper and I have been having quite a lot lately. He brought it up, I explained marriage, and then he named his neighbor and girlfriend his bride. Fine, I thought, I was already fond of my now-expectant daughter-in-law. But Casper has choice stress and therefore wants to marry me and I am not explained that both the world and the law are not quite like that. It is now becoming the subject of heated discussions, even though Casper is willing to believe that Daddy and I are quite happy with each other and that marrying your child is not only silly but also prohibited.

I picked up the wedding photo book and we went through the photos together. Nora with her nose on top, of course, because everything with dresses / make-up / wedding / photos has her special attention. The sight of our – now suddenly struck me – young faces (next year Erik and I have been married for ten years) and then still tiny niece, fortunately also distracted attention from the matter that I have a little boy in the house who is marriage plane feels rejected by me. Or so I thought. Until yesterday.

“Mom?”
“Yes darling.”
“You’re married to daddy, right?”
“Yes dear”, I said, searching diligently for distraction topics because I was not in the mood for this matter for a while.
“Okay.”
“But honey, you are going to marry Juliette, aren’t you?”
“Yes, but I would like to have two anyway, and you are already with dad. So I think I’ll take Max there. ”
I still doubt between explaining the law again or just nodding nicely.
