Mania: Devialet unveils its first portable speaker

French Devialet in turn launches into the portable speaker market. The Mania is a 17 cm high design ball equipped with six loudspeakers including two large woofers. Four full-range loudspeakers are arranged on the top of the Mania and allow the sound to be directed in 4 directions for “360° stereo sound”… when the loudspeaker is placed in the center of a room. Against a wall indeed, the enclosure remains with a classic stereo reproduction. The accessory even incorporates microphones that measure the sound produced by the speaker and the environment in order to optimize its “sound image”. The manufacturer of course announces a sound rendering of a “astounding purity and precision”, which is a minimum for a speaker billed at 790 euros!

The other features of the device are a 3200 mAh battery providing 10 hours of autonomy, a USB-C port for Power Delivery charging (a charging cradle is available) and of course the Bluetooth 5.0 connection, Wi-Fi without forget AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect. The Mania is also IPx4 certified, which means that it should be possible to embed it while hiking without too much inconvenience. The Devialet Mania is available for sale today on the manufacturer’s website at the base price of 790 euros, or 999 euros for the “Paris Opera” model with golden keys and charging base (the latter is sold alone for 79 euros).
