major update full of new privacy options and useful tools
We’ve written it before; when an update comes out for Telegram, it’s usually a major update. That is no different with the update to Telegram 8.3, and we see a lot of new functions related to useful features and new privacy options. What’s new?
Telegram 8.3
A major update to Telegram 8.3 is available in the Google Play Store. The latest version of the chat app brings several useful additions, tools and options. First of all, there’s news for channel and group administrators. They now have the option to enable the ‘Protected content’ option. This can prevent content that is shared from being stored by members or others. You can choose to make the content available only to members, limit message forwarding and not allow screenshots of that chat. Also saving media in posts can be undone in Telegram 8.3.
There are also new functions for the average user. From now on you have full control over your digital footprint, the chat app proudly reports. Users can now easily delete chat history from a specific date or time period. To do this, open the calendar and tap on the date bar, which you see while scrolling through the chat.
Telegram 8.3 also gets the new Devices menu, giving you better insight into the connected devices. You can also adjust the settings of this and you can quickly connect a desktop device with a button. You can also adjust settings per device that calls can be received, or that secret chats can be accessed. Public groups now have the option to respond anonymously, and some mobile devices can now verify a new device with a call from Telegram, instead of a text message.
There are also improvements in terms of themes. Where previously new dynamic themes were added, these are now not limited to just a chat, but to the entire app. The chat settings have been completely redesigned with extra attention to themes.
