[MaJ] Huawei denies resale rumors of its P and Mate ranges

This is the news of the day: if we are to believe Reuters (generally knowledgeable), Huawei would like to separate of its high-end smartphone division (P and Mate models), and is actively seeking a buyer. Already “lightened” from its ex-subsidiary Honor, Huawei would therefore continue to shed its most costly divisions. Theories in the air suggest that this decision would hide another strategy: Huawei would seek to circumvent US sanctions by separating “artificially” from one of its flagship divisions, as it had done for Honor.

This interpretation remains at the very least questionable insofar as it implies that Huawei would in a way retain control of the subsidiaries that it resells. The explanation makes little sense here since Honor was already managed independently (including under the fold of Huawei) and the company now has its own accounts, therefore separate from those of Huawei. It is not for nothing that many analysts are now forecasting a collapse in Huawei sales this year, without taking into account, of course, theses flirting with the fake news (without any other tangible element).

Just hours after the Reuters article, a spokesperson for Huawei France “categorically” denied the information from the Le Journal du Geek website. However, this development does not have the value of absolute truth: it is not certain that Huawei France is the most reliable transmission belt of what is decided by the Chinese parent company, besides a number of information denied on such and such a day was finally made official on such other day …

Update 25/01 : a spokesperson for Huawei (the parent company this time) denied the info to Reuters: “There is no basis for these rumors. Huawei has no such project ”
