‘MacBook Pro with mini LED screen will not come until 2022’

The new MacBook Pro may be postponed to 2022. For a long time it seemed that the best Apple laptop already got a successor this year.

Rumor: MacBook Pro delayed to 2022

According to DigiTimes Apple is postponing the MacBook Pro to 2022. Why the company chooses this, the Taiwanese website does not disclose.

The delay may be related to the new screen of the Pro laptop. According to rumors, the MacBook Pro will get a mini LED screen, just like the iPad Pro 2021, for example.

Mini LED excels in contrasts because zones can be dimmed locally. This means that black zones (for example when watching a movie) are really black.

Mini LED screens also have a very high brightness and are not very sensitive to burn-in. The latter is nice for image editors, for example, who regularly use the screen at the highest brightness.

Earlier this month, website Nikkei wrote that Apple had production problems and was unable to make enough mini LED displays. In addition, Apple itself already warned of a worldwide shortage of computer chips. In its quarterly report, the company wrote that some products may be delayed.

More connections, two sizes

For months it has been unsettling about the most expensive laptop that Apple makes. Thanks to leaked design drawings of the MacBook Pro, we know that it will get more connections than just USB-C. An SD card slot and an HDMI port are also available.

The design would be more in line with the iPhone 12 and iPad Pro. The schematic drawings show a design with harder edges and a more angular design. Speaking of which, the new MacBook Pro would come in two screen sizes: 14 and 16 inches.

It is also almost certain that the powerful Apple laptop will get an M2 chip. The 13-inch MacBook Pro that appeared in 2020 runs on the M1 chip, Apple’s first home-made computer chip.
