‘Little enthusiasm for iPhone 13 and iOS 15’

‘iPhone 13 study shows little enthusiasm’

This is shown by research by SellCell, an American company that buys used smartphones and tablets. The website asked 3,000 Americans for their thoughts on Apple’s upcoming software updates and new products.

More than 50 percent of respondents found iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 “not engaging”. Just under 20 percent called the updates “interesting” or “very interesting”.

SellCell also asked respondents about specific features that respondents are/are not enthusiastic about. Americans appear to be especially looking forward to the possibility to add their driver’s license to the Wallet app on an iPhone. Unfortunately, this function is not coming to the Netherlands (and Belgium).

The survey also asked which innovations Apple should have announced. Respondents are mainly waiting for the addition of interactive widgets. iOS 14, the previous iPhone version, added widgets to the home screen, but the ‘expanded’ apps are still quite static.

This is all new in iOS 15

“iPhone 13 is bad name”

Furthermore, SellCell asked respondents about the expectations surrounding the iPhone 13. Apple will announce the successor to the iPhone 12 later this year, but it would probably be better to choose a different name.

According to the SellCell survey, 74 percent of people think “iPhone 13” is a bad name. A better option would be “iPhone (2021)”, which gets 38 percent of the vote.

Finally, 64 percent of people say they don’t plan to buy a new iPhone in the coming months. This group would rather wait for this fall’s announcements.

On to September

Apple is rumored to announce four iPhone 13 phones in September: the same number as in 2020. We sometimes hear “iPhone 12S” as alternative names. However, most rumors talk about “iPhone 13”, so we’ll keep that name iPhoned for the time being.

The new iPhones would include a smaller notch (screen notch), a better camera and fingerprint scanner under the display. Want to know more about our expectations for the iPhone 13? Watch the video below, or read more about the device pages:
