‘LG’s Android 11 update schedule does not bode well’

LG has shared its update schedule in Germany and we get to see when phones can expect an update to Android 11. The LG V60 gets it first, followed by the Velvet and the G8X from 2019. Compared to other manufacturers, LG phones do not receive the update until late.

Android 11, the latest version of the Android operating system has been announced since September last year, but at the moment no LG phone is running on the latest version in our country. So you can say that LG is again quite late, but now the company is already sharing its update schedule in Germany.

The LG V60 update is currently being rolled out in various countries, but at the moment this does not seem to be the case with us. The Velvet will then be on the program and will receive it in April. The G8x from 2019 will receive it at a later date in the second quarter.

LG Velvet April 2021
LG G8X Second quarter 2021
LG G8S Third quarter of 2021
LG Wing Fourth quarter of 2021

LG Wing

LG’s plans with the LG Wing are also striking. That was LG’s highly experimental flagship with two screens that costs 1099 euros. The Wing can count on its Android 11 update in the fourth quarter of this year, long after Android 12 is expected to be announced. We have to take into account that this concerns the German update plans, although this gives a strong indication of what we can expect in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Clearly, LG’s update policy issues continue to linger, even though the brand announced a few years ago that it wants to go the extra mile when it comes to update development. The brand had previously invested in a so-called ‘Software Upgrade Center’. Nevertheless, we know that LG is struggling to boost its smartphone sales again, and the brand is therefore making a lot of losses. LG has already hinted at an exit from the smartphone market, but the company has not yet confirmed those plans.
