LG Innotek would invest heavily for the Zoom sensor of the iPhone 15
Rumors indicated a few months ago that LG Innotek was working on a new generation of large zoom sensor for mobiles. The Elec understands today that the manufacturer will invest 1.28 billion dollars (1.65 trillion won) in the construction of a new factory which will produce photo modules, actuators as well as a new generation of Zoom sensor, all aimed at the iPhone 15.
The optical magnification (zoom) sensor will be one of the main “photo” novelties of the iPhone 15: its “folded” design allows the light to be bent using a prism before transmitting it to the image sensor. This type of folded sensor is generally thinner than a conventional sensor, which could reduce the thickness of the photo block on the back of the iPhone 15. Folded sensors are necessarily supported by actuators capable of quickly and precisely changing the position lenses. In addition to this zoom sensor, LG Innotek would support the production of almost all the sensors of the next iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro ranges.
