Kuo: folding phone and return TouchID come even later

Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo now expects the iPhone 14 to come without TouchID, and the foldable iPhone is also a little later.

Now that we can all get started with the brand new iPhone 13, it’s time to look into the future. Secretly we already did. Recently, renders and rumors emerged about what will probably be the iPhone 14. With a wide range of new features. At least it seemed so.

Delay

Years have already been mentioned by the well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He talked about a lot of features for the iPhone for 2022 and a real foldable iPhone for 2023. Those years are going to change. Development at Apple is delayed and so a lot is not ready before 2022. These are now expected for 2023, for the iPhone 15 series.

Features

This mainly concerns a feature that people would like to see again: TouchID. And especially the fact that TouchID would return as a fingerprint scanner under the screen. According to Kuo, that will not be him in 2022. It does become clear that Apple wants to offer TouchID as a choice in addition to FaceID. Facial recognition is not banned, as it was when TouchID was replaced by FaceID.

iPhone 14

Does the delay mean that the iPhone 14 will once again become an iPhone 13 clone? No, not necessarily. If it’s up to Kuo, there are a few features – which we also saw in leaked images – that will make it to the iPhone 14. It concerns a larger 48 megapixel main camera and a ‘hole-punch’ camera in the front. That would mean the end of the notch.

Foldable iPhone

Apple is also following the Samsung Galaxy Fold and there will be a foldable iPhone. This would come in 2023, but that too has now been moved up by a year, according to Kuo. The foldable iPhone would appear at the end of 2024. So have a little more patience.

Interesting things on the horizon for the new iPhones, even if you have to be patient for some of those things. (via MacRumors)
