Apple comes up with a simple solution to a known problem. Apple fixes the issue in iOS15, but why wasn’t it there sooner?

Within operating systems, some ‘problems’ have not yet been solved. Apple now comes in iOS15 with a simple solution to a known problem.

This week Apple gave a preview of iOS15. The operating system is now available to developers in beta. We expect the public launch to be at the end of this year. And in this update, a new feature will be added where we all ask ourselves: why wasn’t this there before?

Known problem, simple solution

Apple fixes the iOS15 issue. It’s not going to change the world, but it’s going to make your life easier if you have an iPhone. The upcoming update adds a feature that lets you drag and drop images, files, text, and more into apps on the iPhone. Finally!

The editor-in-chief of MacRumors Federico Viticci demonstrated the new ones feature in a tweet:

Okay, okay, this isn’t exactly new. Dragging and dropping between apps has been possible on the iPad since 2017. But now Apple is finally integrating the feature to the iPhone with iOS15. Dragging and dropping between apps always leads to duplication, not the movement of the content.

Drag and drop

With this new feature you can drag and drop between apps. You can then retrieve images, documents and files from one app and drag them to another.

To do this, long press on an image, text or file, for example. You don’t lift your finder and use a second finger to swipe out of the app. You then open another app and release the selected one. This will place it in the other app. If you press the selected item any longer, it will appear to pop up and stick to your finger, and as the content is dragged, animations and visual cues identify possible destinations where the content can be dropped.

In September, this feature should come with the new update for every iPhone user.
