JUNG_E (Netflix): first trailer for Sang-Ho Yeon’s SF film (Last Train to Busan)
After the cult Last Train to Busan and the excellent series Hellbound on netflix, Sang-Ho Yeon returns to the helm with JUNG_E, a post-apo, humanoid-themed sci-fi film. “In a post-apocalyptic 22nd century, a researcher in a laboratory strives to end a civil war by cloning the brain of a heroic fighter: her mother. » Everything is said or almost in this pitch both barred and which takes up the main themes of the work of Sang-Ho Yeon since Last Train for Busan, that is to say the capacity for heroism of the different members of a family. Seeming to be inspired by both Alita: Battle Angel, Ghost in the Shell and Terminator, JUNG-E seems in any case to benefit from the sober and elegant staging of the Korean director.
The creation sequence of the humanoid robot is inevitably reminiscent of Ghost in The Shell
In the casting, we find the excellent Kim Hyun-joo and Ryu Kyung- (already seen in Hellbound). JUNG_E will be available on Netflix on January 20.
