Jony Ive was involved in the design of the iMac M1

The iMac M1 has a bit of Jony Ive in it. Wired reveals that the former Apple designer, who left the company in 2019, was involved in the design of the new all-in-one computer.

Apple has confirmed that Jony Ive has something to do with the iMac M1, but the manufacturer has not released further details. We don’t know if Jony Ive was on his own or if it was through his own design studio, LoveForm. Three years ago, LoveForm announced that Apple was going to be one of its customers, without further information.

It is good to note that the design of a product is done over several years. The iMac M1 was not imagined a few months ago, Apple has been working on it for a while.

When you think about it, it’s true that this computer has something of Jony Ive. The finesse of the machine alone is a clue. The ex-Apple designer previously worked on iPhones, iPads, iPods, MacBooks and iMacs, and each time sought to reduce the thickness (especially on mobile products).

As a reminder, Apple announced the iMac M1 in April during an online keynote. The all-in-one computer has seen its design change completely from previous models. The machine is thin, comes in several colors and runs on an Apple M1 chip, instead of an Intel processor.
