Japanese stealth action Tenchu may return -apkrig

It seems as if 2021 could be a year of big comebacks. Several developers, mainly from Japan, have already indicated that some previously popular brands may come up with something new. The Japanese company Acquire has a successful series such as Way of the Samurai, Shinobido or Tenchu. And the latter game could return after a long pause.

A potential comeback was suggested in an interview with the Japanese magazine Famitsu by the president of Acquire, Takuma Endo. According to him, he would like to create a new part of Tench from the ground up for the PlayStation 5 generation. If possible, he added. But it will not be easy. At the moment, nothing is certain.

It was originally believed that a new episode of Tench would emerge from a game known in the future known as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Stealth action from Acquire has been waiting for its return since 2009, when the last episode of Tench was released: Shadow Assassins for Wii and PSP. The first episode, subtitled Stealth Assassins, debuted in 1998 on the original PlayStation. The series has many episodes and, in addition to the platforms mentioned, has also appeared on the PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS.

However, a possible sequel has one hook, which may have been encountered by Takuma Endo. Acquire does not own the rights to Tench. The brand gradually switched from Sony to Activision and is now owned by the FromSoftware studio. This is also the reason why it was originally believed that a new part of Tench would turn out of the game known as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in the future. Not that there are no similarities between the two titles.

Set in the 16th century, we included the saga in our selection of the most interesting games inspired by Japanese history last year.

If the Way of the Samurai series could return, Acquire and his fans may be lucky, including Tench. After all, it is still an attractive topic and, moreover, Japan is now in the course thanks to Sekir, Nioh or Ghost of Tsushima. Would you say?
