is this Lenovo’s attack on the iPad Pro?’

Apple and Samsung have been battling for the best high-end tablet for years. The fact that the manufacturers compete so strongly with each other is because the two companies dominate almost the entire tablet playing field. The arrival of a Lenovo Tab P12 Pro, a high-end tablet from Lenovo, seems to be a first move by Lenovo to break this market dominance.

Dominance Apple and Samsung

Apple’s iPad Pro series has not done Apple any harm. The company managed to take the position of the only tablet manufacturer for professionals. Samsung tried to match this last year with the Galaxy Tab S7 series, which became available in two sizes for the first time. Also including a direct competitor to the 12.4-inch iPad Pro – the Tab S7 Plus.

Other than Samsung, there is currently no other Android tablet manufacturers competing with the iPad Pro – most Android tablets are positioned in the low-end to mid-range segment. Lenovo seems to want to change that.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro

Lenovo is one of the parties in the midrange segment. In the short term, the company also seems to want to establish itself in the higher segment, in which mainly business consumers are active – this is apparent from a registration of a high-end tablet in the Google Play Console. The Play Console makes mention of a Lenovo Tab P12 Pro, according to MySmartPrice, with a Snapdragon 855 chipset.

If the Play Console displays the correct information, the Tab P12 Pro will receive a major upgrade compared to its predecessor. It received the Snapdragon 730G chipset. Furthermore, the tablet would also get more RAM – 8 GB, compared to 6 GB in the ‘Tab P11 Pro’. According to data from Google, the Lenovo tablet has a resolution of 1,600 x 2,560 pixels. Whether it is an OLED or LCD panel, and what size the screen is, is still unknown. According to the Play Console, the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro finally runs on Android 11.

Galaxy Tab S8 Competitor

When Lenovo plans to launch the Tab P12 Pro is still unknown. Lenovo launched its Tab P11 Pro in August last year. Lenovo may be holding onto that launch line, though we don’t know for sure, of course. Since the tablet has now appeared in the Play Console, the launch is expected to be soon in any case. It is still unknown what price the tablet will receive after launch.

Lenovo’s Tab P11 Pro changes hands for 549 euros. Considering the Tab P12 Pro uses a high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, the price could increase slightly. At the same time, the price of the Snapdragon 855 will already have fallen considerably – after all, the chip came on the market in 2019. The improved specification list does not therefore have to lead directly to a considerably higher price.

In terms of performance, the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro may be able to approach Samsung’s upcoming Tab S8 series, at a potentially (much) lower price. What do you think of the specifications of the Tab P12 Pro? At what price would you buy the tablet? Let us know in the comments below this article.
