Is Huawei going to sell the P and Mate series of smartphone brands?

At the end of last year, Huawei sold its Honor brand to a consortium of government companies supported in Shenzhen due to pressure from US sanctions. There have now been reports on the Internet that Huawei plans to sell the P and Mate brands, but the company has refuted these claims.

Huawei calls P and Mate claims “unfounded rumors”

The company allegedly considered selling the P and Mate brands as early as September 2020. However, Huawei said in a report to Reuters, that the company was only in the initial negotiations for the sale of these brands. But no final decision has been made and it is possible that Huawei will not sell these brands in the end. In this way, the company commented on the whole situation for the portal Android Authority:

“Huawei has learned that unsubstantiated rumors are circulating about the possible sale of our P and Mate brands. However, Huawei does not have such a plan. We continue to be fully engaged in the production of smartphones and will continue to supply top products to customers around the world. ”

In any case, the Honor brand remains an example for Huawei and will monitor how the brand will thrive after its independence. She has already been able to re-establish relationships with Qualcomm, AMD, MediaTek and others, which will significantly help her in the future. The P and Mate brands may end up similarly if Huawei finally decides to sell them.

We asked the Slovak representation of Huawei for an opinion. We will add any answer to this article.
