iPhone SE 4 gets OLED screen from iPhone 14

If we are to believe the rumors, a lot will change with the new iPhone SE. For example, we have previously mentioned that the iPhone SE 4 is getting a new look that looks a lot like a modified iPhone 14.

Ming-Chu Kuo recently said that the iPhone SE 4 will have a 6.1-inch screen. The iPhone SE 2022 still had a 4.7-inch LCD screen. The new version of Apple’s budget smartphone will therefore receive a major upgrade, but there is more. The screen of the iPhone SE 4 will now be an OLED screen, which is the same as the iPhone 14.

According to the Korean website The Elec, this is also obvious. The iPhone SE 4 is an entry-level iPhone, so it’s smart to use what’s already in stock. Since the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 use the same OLED screen, there’s probably enough stock to use for the new iPhone SE 4 as well.

From LCD to OLED

Since the iPhone 12, almost all iPhones have an OLED screen, except for the iPhone SE line-up. It may also be that the OLED panels have become somewhat cheaper that Apple is now considering giving the budget iPhone such a display.

When is the iPhone SE 4 coming?

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to go into production in early 2024. A release is therefore likely in the spring of 2024. Whether the new iPhone SE will also receive other iPhone 14 features such as Face ID and a double camera with night mode is still unknown. But if the device gets the look of an iPhone 14, it is obvious that some of these functions will also come to the iPhone SE 4.
