New iPhone gets faster chip
Apple is introducing a new and faster processor with the iPhone 15 this year. For years, every new iPhone had the fastest processor at that time. With the regular iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, however, Apple opted for the ‘old’ A15 instead of the new A16 chip. This was probably due to the high price of the A16 chip. This chip only came to the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The A17 chip is expected to be presented with the new iPhone 15 Pro. This chip will of course again be faster and more powerful than the A16 chip. It is quite possible that only the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max run on the A17 chip. Is it worth switching to the regular iPhone 15?
Regular iPhone 15 also gets a new chip
The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus still run on the A15 chip, which we already knew from the iPhone 13. We expect that the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus will get a new processor this year, the phones will then run probably on the A16 chip. This means that the regular iPhones will also receive a considerable upgrade this year, in contrast to last year.
This ‘new’ processor in the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus is important if you are doubting whether you want to switch to the iPhone 15 series. With the new processor you can move forward again, only the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) currently runs on the same processor. Don’t have an iPhone 14 Pro (Max)? Then the new faster processor is a good reason to switch to the iPhone 15.
The iPhone 15 Pro also gets more RAM
This new powerful processor in the iPhone 15 may also include more RAM. With the current iPhone 14 series, all four models come with 6GB of RAM. The two iPhone 15 Pro models will probably get a boost to 8GB of RAM. It is the first time that Apple’s flagship has more RAM since the iPhone 12 Pro with 6GB of RAM.

The two cheaper iPhones (the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus) are expected to get stuck at 6GB of RAM. However, the working memory is also better with these devices, because they get an upgrade to LPDDR5 RAM. This makes the performance a bit faster and more efficient. The iPhone 15 will probably have the same memory type and processor as the iPhone 14 Pro (Max)
