New buttons iPhone 15 Pro
Over the past few months, a lot has become clear about the new buttons of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. For example, leaked photos of the iPhone 15 Pro showed that the new phone will have one large volume button, instead of the two separate buttons on the current iPhones. The mute button also undergoes a metamorphosis and becomes a multifunctional action button.

You can no longer physically press these new buttons, they work with vibration motors instead. We already know this way of pressing from the home button on the iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone SE 2022.
The big disadvantage with these phones was that you couldn’t press the home button with gloves on. The buttons only responded to direct contact with the skin. Apple has come up with a solution for this problem with the iPhone 15 Pro.
Sensitivity of buttons can be adjusted
With the iPhone 15 Pro (Max), the sensitivity of the buttons can be adjusted. The buttons, which work with Haptic Touch, also register touches in this way, for example with gloves on.
You can then increase the sensitivity of the buttons in winter when you hit gloves. The new buttons on your iPhone will still work without you having to take off your gloves first.
In addition, Apple is working on a function that allows the buttons to still work when the iPhone 15 is (almost) empty. The function works with a technique that puts the iPhone in a special energy-saving mode, so that you can still press the buttons when the battery is almost empty.
The same technique is already used for the Find my iPhone function when your phone is empty. Your location will then still be shared.
