‘iPhone 13 with A15 chip is much more powerful than Android competitors’

The A15 Bionic processor, which will power the new iPhone 13, will soon be the fastest and most powerful processor on the market. This would appear from surfaced benchmark tests.

Read on after the ad.

A15 Bionic Processor

With every new iPhone comes a new, more powerful chip. The iPhone 13 is no different. The chip will probably be known as the A15 Bionic and, like its predecessor (the A14), it is built on a 6-nm process.

A surfaced Manhattan 3.1 GPU benchmark test now shows what we can expect from the A15 in terms of performance. They have been shared by Twitter user FrontTron and look promising. The A15 scored 198 FPS, which is quite a bit more than the A14 of the iPhone 12, which only got beyond 120 FPS.

In a second test, the score was a lot lower with 140 to 150 FPS. This is probably because of the so-called thermal throttle. The processor clocks itself back if the temperature gets too high. But this score is still significantly higher than what the A14 Bionic chip is capable of.

A15 vs Exynos 2200

Nice is that benchmarks have also surfaced of the Exynos 2200. This is the chipset of the next Samsung flagship: the Galaxy S22. Much is expected of the Exynos 2200, which, like Apple’s processor, is a system-on-a-chip (SoC), but built on a 4nm process. Some insiders claim that the processor can compete with the A15 Bionic.

However, in the leaked benchmarks from FronTron, the Exynos 2200 only got past 170.7 FPS; considerably less than the 198 FPS of the A15. When clocked back, the chipset reached a score of 120 FPS, comparable to last year’s A14 chip.

Of course, the benchmarks of the A15 don’t give a full picture of the performance of the iPhone 13 phones. They mainly focus on processing power and do not consider efficiency and graphics performance. But at least the omens are promising.

Stay informed

Next week we will know more about the A15 Bionic, because then Apple will most likely reveal the new iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 Pro (Max). During the event, Tim Cook’s company will present its latest smartphones, but will also come up with other products. Think, for example, of the Apple Watch Series 7 and AirPods 3.
