iPhone 13 gets fingerprint scanner with a twist?

The iPhone 13 may get a fingerprint scanner again, but it will work differently here than with previous smartphones.

With FaceID, Apple has said goodbye to TouchID in recent years. That means that today’s iPhones are no longer equipped with a fingerprint scanner. That’s because the home button has also disappeared. But the fingerprint scanner may be making a comeback. Either in a different form.

iPhone 13 with fingerprint scanner

According to Bloomberg, the iPhone 13 will get a fingerprint scanner. This will be processed in the screen. Something that we have seen with Android smartphones for years, but never before with Apple. I can still remember that the first generation of Android smartphones with a fingerprint scanner in the display worked okay, but there was now and then a mini delay in it. Nowadays this is no longer the case. Almost all flagship Android smartphones with a fingerprint scanner in the screen work flawlessly, quickly and intuitively.

So if Apple does indeed present an iPhone 13 with a fingerprint scanner in the screen this year, the American company is rather late. The competitors have long shown that this can work perfectly. The new iPhone is not expected to appear until September or October. So that will take a while.
