A screen that is always on would be one of the big improvements of the iPhone 13. In addition, Apple is working on an ‘improved matte back’.

Read on after the ad.

‘iPhone 13 gets always on display’

The new rumor comes from EverythingApplePro, who claims to have received exclusive information from Max Weinbach. Weinbach is a well-known name in the Apple world and has made correct predictions several times.

The most important information has everything to do with the screen of the device. For example, the rumor is underlined that the iPhone 13 would get a 120Hz screen. We already know this ‘ProMotion’ display from the iPad Pro and gives the iPhone an extra 60 frames per second to refresh the screen. That makes for smoother animations.

In addition, the iPhone 13 would finally get an always on screen, which we know from the Apple Watch Series 5 and newer. As the name implies, this screen is always on, but it is a special display to save energy. The function is described as a ‘simplified lock screen’, on which the clock and your battery percentage are always visible. As soon as a new notification arrives, it will also appear, although the screen will not light up completely.

By keeping the brightness low and showing as few animations as possible, battery consumption can be minimized. Only when you touch the screen or pick up the device will the screen wake up and the traditional lock screen will appear. This makes the function comparable to the Apple Watch, which also shows the time but dims the screen and shows no notifications until you tap the display or turn your wrist.

The video also mentions a few smaller interesting rumors about Apple’s latest smartphone. The device would get an improved ultra wide-angle lens, which makes a new ‘Portrait video function’ possible. This allows you to adjust the depth of field effect of a video afterwards.

Improved star photos with ‘astrophotography’

With the Astrophotography feature, Apple has taken a close look at the Google Pixel phones. By pointing your phone to the sky at night, the device will adjust the settings so that you can take extra beautiful photos of the universe.

In terms of design, the 13 would look a lot like the iPhone 12, but Apple has done something with the back. With a better finished frosted glass back, the device would get more grip and therefore slip out of your hands less easily. The MagSafe magnet in the back would also be made stronger.

The iPhone 13 is expected to be unveiled in four models in September. Then they will be in stores in the Netherlands at the end of September or early October. Do you want to know more? Then check our overview with the most important rumors.
