‘Next iPad Pro can charge wirelessly’
The rumors are from Mark Gurman, a usually reliable journalist who Bloomberg writes.
According to Gurman, Apple will release the next iPad Pro in 2022, although he does not mention a specific month. The new iPad could charge wirelessly because of the glass back.
This means you don’t have to connect the tablet to a cable to provide it with power. Since the iPhone 8 from 2017, all Apple smartphones can charge wirelessly.
Since most wireless chargers aren’t big enough for a tablet, Apple was going to use MagSafe. This magnetic connection made a comeback on the iPhone 12 phones and allows you to clip (for example) a wireless charger to the back of the device.
Gurman also writes that the 2022 iPad Pro can also charge in reverse. This allows you to power AirPods, for example, by placing them on the back of the tablet. For a long time, it was rumored that this feature was already coming to the iPhone 11 (from 2019), but this turned out not to be true.
New iPad mini gets redesign
Gurman also writes that Apple is working on a new iPad mini. This compact tablet would get a total makeover and get much smaller screen bezels. The iPad mini also doesn’t seem to have a home button.
According to the journalist, Apple will release the iPad mini in 2021. The compact tablet would still be “before the end” of this year for sale. It is not clear how expensive it will be.
Apple keeps the momentum going
Recently, Apple released the iPad Pro 2021. This is the first Apple tablet that runs on the brand new M1 chip, which is made by the company. For example, the M1 chip is also in the new iMac, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro (with 13-inch screen). The iPad mini was last upgraded in 2019.
