iPad Pro 2022 looks the same (but gets cool improvements)

The iPad Pro 2022 is coming and probably has the same design, but the large tablet still gets some interesting improvements. iPhoned tells you what the new functions and features of the iPad Pro 2022 are!

iPad Pro 2022 improvements

That Apple is working on a new iPad Pro is one thing for sure. Probably the biggest improvements of the iPad Pro 2022 will mainly take place under the hood. We list the various rumors of the largest Apple iPad for you.

iPad Pro 2022 gets M2 chip

The previous iPad Pro from 2021 had received an update to the M1 chip, which you can also find in the MacBook Air and the Mac mini. The successor to M1, the M2 chip, will probably appear in 2022. There is a good chance that the next generation of the iPad Pro will also receive this new chip. The M2 chip will probably be a bit faster and more efficient, but specific details are not yet known.

Upgrade display with mini LED screen

Last year we already had an iPad Pro 12.9 inches with a mini LED screen. This year, the 11-inch and 12.9-inch versions of the iPad Pro are also expected to get such a new screen. The mini-LED screen provides, among other things, a higher contrast and better black values.

Wireless charging with MagSafe

You can put your iPhone on a wireless charger for years, but the iPad still cannot do without a cable. That may change this year. According to rumored that the iPad Pro 2022 will get support for wireless charging. The Apple logo on the back would be bigger and glass so you can clip a MagSafe magnetic charger onto it.

One of the other improvements that the iPad Pro 2022 may get is ‘PowerShare’. With this you can, for example, charge your iPhone 13 by placing it on the back of the iPad Pro 2022.

However, it is not yet certain that the new iPad Pro will receive this form of charging. Because according to other rumors, the iPad Pro 2022 would not get a MagSafe. The glass part required for MagSafe makes the iPad Pro more likely to be damaged, leaving the tech giant skeptical about using such a fragile material.

Apple Pencil 3

There are also rumors that a new version of the Apple Pencil is on the way. These rumors about the Apple Pencil 3 already surfaced in early 2021, but it has been quiet since then. It is therefore not yet certain whether we can indeed expect a new version, but it would be nice if the digital pen also gets an upgrade.

iPad Pro 2022 housing improvements: titanium shell

The housing will probably also get an upgrade. One of the improvements Apple is considering for the iPad Pro 2022 is a titanium case.

This material has many advantages. It’s lighter than aluminum, making it even easier to take your iPad with you. Apple can also make the iPad thinner without compromising its sturdiness. Titanium is very strong and less sensitive to (deep) scratches. A disadvantage is that titanium is quite expensive. So there is quite a chance that only the largest iPad Pro 2022 will receive this update.

Apple iPad Pro 2022 release

It is not yet clear when Apple will announce the iPad Pro 2022. That could be this spring, but also in the fall. According to the latest rumors, there will be an Apple event in March, but probably only a new iPad Air will be shown there in the iPad area. The release of the iPad Pro 2022 will probably be around the fall.
