iOS 16 keyboard: vibrate function finally available

Apple took over a popular feature from Android with iOS 16. The iPhone has a so-called Keyboard Feedback. With this feature, you can feel the iPhone vibrate gently when you type on the keyboard. With iOS 15, we only heard a sound.

However, it turns out this iOS 16 keyboard feedback can drain a lot of battery. At least, that’s what Apple reports on its official webpage. It states that ‘turning on the keyboard vibrations may affect your iPhone’s battery life’.

Why Keyboard Feedback on iOS 16 Slurps Battery

In addition to this disclaimer, Apple does not give a precise indication of how much battery this iOS 16 function actually consumes. On the other hand, how much do you really type on your iPhone? They’re not whole novels, are they? Realistically, we therefore expect that the impact keyboard feedback in iOS 16 on the battery life of your iPhone will be small. Are you having problems with your battery? Then turn the function off.

On the other hand, it’s really interesting that – despite Apple telling us that this feature might drain your battery – turning off Keyboard Feedback isn’t included in the power-saving mode. That is why we have explained for you in the next paragraph how you can turn this off manually.
