Apple just released iOS 15.2. The update is available for all recent iPhones. A new version of iPadOS is also ready and the Apple Watch will receive a number of new features.
Read on after the ad.
Download iOS 15.2: this is how you install the new update
Apple has released updates for the iPhone and iPad. iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2 are now available for download and add several new features to your device. In addition, the update also contains several bug fixes and stability improvements. We therefore recommend that you install the latest version of iOS 15 as soon as possible. Follow the steps below for this:
- Make sure your iPhone battery is at least 50 percent full or hang it on the charger;
- Go to the Settings app and tap “General”;
- Choose ‘Software update’ in this menu and let your iPhone (or iPad) search for the latest update;
- Found it? Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the update.
Does iOS 15.2 not immediately appear on the screen? Then you unfortunately have to wait. Just after the release of a new update, a lot of people want to download the software. This creates digital queues. Please try again in an hour.
Always make a backup of your iPhone before installing the update. In most cases, downloading iOS 15.2 goes without a hitch, but you never know. If something goes wrong, at least you won’t lose any important data.
New Features in iOS 15.2
One of the major new features in iOS 15.2 is the App Privacy Report. This allows you to see which apps have accessed your personal data in the past week. Think of your location, photos, microphone, camera and contacts. If you find that a certain app is requesting too much data, you can of course remove it if you want.
Another great feature is digital legacy. This allows you to designate friends or family members as inheritance contact. If you die, they will have access to your iPhone and can view photos, messages and notes, for example. This can be very practical, but it also has emotional value for the bereaved.

WatchOS 8.3 also available
There are two ways to update your Apple Watch: via your iPhone and directly via the Apple Watch itself. Below you can read how to apply both methods. WatchOS 8.3 is available for the Apple Watch Series 3 and newer.
watchOS update via your iPhone
- Use your paired iPhone;
- Go to My Watch and after that General;
- Tap on software update and wait for the update to be downloaded;
- Connect your Apple Watch to the charger and wait for the update to install.
Keep your paired iPhone near your Apple Watch or you’ll disrupt the update process. The update may take longer than an hour. So patience is certainly a virtue. You can only complete the installation with your Apple Watch on the charger. So keep this in mind.
Update directly via Apple Watch
- Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch;
- Go to General and after that software update;
- Your Apple Watch will now search for the watchOS update;
- Tap download;
- Connect your Apple Watch to the charger and the installation will start automatically.
