iOS 14.5 adds ‘Objects’ to the Find My app

The Find My app is now only intended to find Apple devices, such as AirPods, iPhones, Macs and iPads. However, starting with iOS 14.5, Apple is finally throwing the app open to other devices.

A new tab with ‘Objects’ has been added in the beta. This feature was previously leaked, but is now being prepared for release. In this tab, devices from other manufacturers can be added, provided they support the app.

For example, accessory maker Belkin has already said that its future wireless earbuds will support the app and Beats headphones can also be found in this way. The ‘Items tab’ in the Find My app would also be used for the AirTag, Apple’s own bluetooth tracker with which you can find out the location remotely.

The AirTag has been rumored for years, but has been delayed by Apple. Now there are reports that the company is unveiling and releasing the AirTags this month, which would coincide nicely with the arrival of iOS 14.5. Do you want to know more about the AirTags?
