Instructions: How to get a COVID card, upload it to the GreenPass application and register in the eHranica system

Probably everyone has heard of the COVID passport or the GreenPass application. In this article, we will explain step by step how to obtain an EU digital COVID card, how to get it into the GreenPass application and also how to register in the eHranica system.

How to get COVID-19-PASS?

The Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic automatically sent SMS messages with the unique number COVID-19-PASS. It consists of 9 characters, which are divided into triplets. Every citizen of the Slovak Republic should have it. This number needs to be kept as it is very important. COVID-19-PASS can also be found in emails from NCZI My eHealth.

How to get an EU Digital COVID Card?

The COVID EU card contains information on vaccination, testing for COVID-19 or overcoming the disease. To obtain it, we will need a mobile phone number, COVID Pass (you can find it in an email or SMS message) and year of birth.

1. Go to the page korona.gov.sk and click on Get the EU Digital COVID Card. Subsequently, we will be redirected to the covidforums.nczi.sk website.
2. Below the forms, click on Digital Covid EU Pass and then to Get a digital ID.
3. Click on Start and fill in the required information – phone number, COVID-19-PASS and year of birth. Click the box I’m not a robot, solve the image task and click Continue.
4. You will receive an activation code (6-digit) to the given number, which must be entered in the mandatory field. After entering it, click on Verify SMS code and continue.
5. Now click on Get a digital ID. We can either download it or send it by e-mail.

If you select the send to e-mail option, the document will be encrypted. To make it available, it will be necessary to enter your birth number, BIČ (information on the health insurance company’s card) or personal identifier.

You can save the digital COVID card to your phone as a photo or print it out. But since we are a technology portal, it would want an application.

How to upload an EU Digital COVID Card to GreenPass?

GreenPass is an application that aims to simplify the process of verifying certificates of vaccination, testing or overcoming the disease. It is available for both Android and iOS operating systems. To download it, we recommend using the following links:

Many users will download the my GreenPass application from stores, which is not an official Slovak application.

GreenPass has been available since 30 June 2021. Once we have the EU Digital COVID Card, let’s look at how to upload it to the app.

1. Download and install the GrrenPass application.
2. The application will prompt you to enter a 5-digit access code, which we will set. We must, of course, remember it, we will need it for further login (this is then also possible via a fingerprint or Face ID).
3. Click on the button Add. There are two ways, either by scanning the QR code or by downloading via an access code. Now let’s see how it works with scanning.
4. Click on Scan the QR code and the camera of the phone we aim at the QR code of the COVID card, which we obtained using the previous instructions. Done, the COVID card is stored in the application.

Now let’s look at how to get a license into the application using the second method, so from point 4 in the previous tutorial we proceed as follows:

1. Instead of Scan the QR code click on Download IDs.
2. Now we need to get an access code, which we will create on the website korona.gov.sk directly by phone.
3. We return to the GreenPass application and click on again Download IDs, enter the passcode we created. The card is downloaded to the application automatically. All done.

Insurance applications or it’s even easier

You can also have a digital COVID EU card in your application of the health insurance company Dôvera, VšZP or Union. It will appear automatically, you don’t have to do anything for it, just log in to the application.

How to register in the eHranica system?

1. We will go to the korona.gov.sk website and click on the Fill in the form button eHranica. Alternatively, click directly on this link.
2. Here we fill in all required data, such as the date of arrival in Slovakia, the country from which we come and the required personal data.
3. The system will then ask if we are fully vaccinated, we will choose the right option. Then uncheck both boxes. We declare that the data is true and that we have been instructed on the protection of personal data.
4. Now click on the button Submit registration.

After successful registration, we will be redirected to a page that will provide us with more information. In this case, that the vaccinated person does not have to undergo a 14-day quarantine and that the registration is valid for 6 months. We will receive the same information in the SMS message and also in the e-mail.
