Instagram is testing ads in its Shopping tab

Instagram announces the implementation of a test that consists to display advertisements in its Shopping tab. This is accessible via one of the buttons at the bottom of the application (the second from the right, with the icon of a bag).

The advertising test in the Shopping section of Instagram includes both a single image and a carousel with several images depending on the case. This initially concerns American advertisers / brands, but those from other countries will be added to the list over the months. The first partner brands are Away, Donny Davy, Boo Oh, Clare, JNJ Gifts, DEUX and Fenty Beauty.

The display of ads in Instagram Shopping will only be on the mobile app… at least initially. The Shopping section does not yet exist on the web version, but we suspect that it will arrive one day or another.

Instagram launched its shopping section in 2020, before gradually expanding it to several countries around the world. Users have access to several products (with a particular emphasis on clothing) and they can view photos, description and price. The idea is that the user is interested in the product and mostly buys it. The social network thus acts as a relay between users and brands, since they present their websites.
