Inactive developer accounts will be canceled

Company Google recently announced changes in the terms of fees for developers in the store Google Play and now comes with another announcement. According to the portal 9to5Google will cancel inactive developer accounts.

Account cancellations will only affect developers with a small number of application downloads

This week, in addition to a “security section” demo, Google also released the latest Google Play store policies. Under them, it will cancel inactive accounts of business developers after one year without activity and according to other factors. This means that Google will terminate the account of any developer who does not upload an app to the store during the year, does not update their apps, and does not connect to the Google Play console.

Fortunately, this should only apply to developers with a very low number of downloaded applications. Developers who have more than a thousand app downloads in the store, or have made apps in their app in the last 90 days of payment, don’t have to worry about account cancellations. The new rule should take effect on September 1 this year.

Developers whose accounts are terminated may create new ones in the future, but will not be able to reactivate old accounts, applications or the original data.

Better in-app ad management and privacy in kids apps

Other changes include more efficient management of in-app ads and their ad identifier, which can be reset at any time. In this context, the protection of personal data for children should also be improved. An application primarily targeted to children will not be able to transmit ad identifiers. These changes should not appear in Android 12 until the end of the year. The full text of the changes can be found here.
