Improved Fatal Frame can lead to a new part -apkrig

Remaster Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water from 2014 and moreover for all possible consoles and PCs is on the way, but what’s next? Of course, the curiosity of the fans was not completely satisfied with this announcement, and on the contrary, they want (we want) more. The truth is that the possible continuation of this Japanese horror series from Koei Tecmo has been discussed several times in recent years. These debates intensified as the 20th anniversary of the saga, which falls this year, approached.

Longtime Fatal Frame producer Keisuke Kikuchi has repeatedly mentioned that he would like to return to survival horror, but stressed that the decision is not up to him. Moreover, after the release of Maiden of Black Water on other platforms, it is unclear what role Nintendo, which has been a co-producer of the series for more than a decade, is now unclear, which Kikuchi has also referred to in the past. Nintendo has co-owned the rights since 2012. But when the remaster comes out, it could mean the publisher’s interest in IP as such and potential new parts, right?

“We wish it would lead to a whole new game.”

It was Keisuke Kikuchi who commented on this for the Japanese magazine Famitsu. He was asked if the series could start again if the new version of Maiden of Black Water did well. And he really gave the fans hope. “I hope so. We are releasing this game on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the series and we hope that many fans will take advantage of this opportunity and play the title, “said Kikuči. “We would like it to lead to a completely new game,” he added.

That sounds pretty promising, I must say. Especially if the brand really got out of exclusivity and got into the hands of other players. Since the 2008 release of Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, which never officially left Japan, Fatal Frame has only appeared on Nintendo-Wii, 3DS, Wii U consoles. Nintendo is sorry. In my opinion, Fatal Frame needs to be a big multiplatform brand like Resident Evil (and perhaps once again Silent Hill) in order to regularly grow with new parts and be commercially successful, otherwise it will have a similar fate as Siren.

And then there’s another good reason to warm up a little under the boiler. In addition to the remainder Maiden of Black Water, a film based on this series is also being prepared, which could help kick the brand. French director and screenwriter Christophe Gans, who brought a film adaptation of Konami’s famous horror series Silent Hill to cinemas in 2006, is working not only on its sequel, but also on a film based on Fatal Frame.

In an interview with AlloCiné magazine, he promised that his Fatal Frame will take place in Japan, and the director does not want to eradicate it from its original environment, following the example of some American horror remakes, which is, of course, commendable.

The first part of the saga was released in December 2001 on PlayStation 2 and later also on Xbox. The Remaster Maiden of Black Water will be released on October 28.

Fatal Frame is not aimed at the silver screen for the first time

The Fatal Frame series has already received one film adaptation. The Japanese film premiered in 2014, but did not achieve the fame of a video game or other filmed horror games. The Hollywood adaptation was even announced in 2003 in a DreamWorks studio production. The famous Steven Spielberg was even supposed to help with the script (not write it!).
