IKEA and Sonos: SYMFONISK
IKEA and Sonos have been working together on smart speakers since 2019 under the name SYMFONISK. That same year, this resulted in a table lamp speaker for 179.00 euros and a bookshelf speaker for 99.95 euros. You can read all about these WiFi speakers in our review. Now IKEA and Sonos present a speaker in the form of a painting with interchangeable panels. This way people can enjoy high-quality sound and a beautiful piece of art that fits into their interior at the same time, according to IKEA.
The main principle in designing the new SYMFONISK speaker was that the product can be seen as a work of art.
SYMFONISK picture frame with WiFi speaker
The SYMFONISK picture frame with WiFi speaker can be hung on the wall or placed on the floor. The speaker comes standard with a white or black panel with a graphic design that visualizes sound. You can decorate the picture frame with a total of twelve interchangeable panels “so that the speaker matches different types of art in the home and with any interior: from an abstract design with geometric figures to a panel with paint splashes.”
The new speaker, like the other two SYMFONISK speakers, connects to your phone via WiFi. The picture frame can also be linked to other SYMFONISK and Sonos speakers or used as the only sound source in the room. As with other SYMFONISK products, operation is via the Sonos app. If you have multiple speakers, you can control each speaker individually. For example, you can play music in one room while the kids listen to an audio book in another room, or play the same music throughout the house. You can also connect the speakers for stereo sound.

Buy SYMFONISK picture frame with WiFi speaker
The SYMFONISK picture frame with WiFi speaker will be available from July 15 for a suggested retail price of 179 euros in all IKEA stores and on IKEA.nl. The interchangeable panels will be available separately online from 1 September via IKEA.nl and cost between 14.99 and 29.99 euros.
