‘I was disturbed by all the discussions and quarrels’

When you hate all those group apps with their endless notifications and announcements, sometimes it’s better to get out.

Claudia (44), mother of Joyce (16), Thomas (8) and Mascha (6):

“Group apps? I think it’s an I HITCH OUT abomination. First the question of whether and what we will buy for Miss Babet, who is pregnant. Then there are thirty requests for a tag and as many reports that payment has been made. Or mutual advice for the school photo: what attracts whom? And then fifty times. Or hundreds of photos from the trip to the zoo.

“I am especially disturbed by all the discussions and quarrels”

Besides this digital tea party, all the discussions and quarrels bother me most of all. It sometimes seems like a political party broadcast or a pro- and anti-vaxxer demonstration. This year I left with the youngest children. Can be fine. With my eldest daughter, there was no class app at all and with the help of the old-fashioned paper school guide and the website you will also get a long way.”

Laetitia (36), stepmother of Benjamin (6), mother of Benthe (1):

“I’ve hated class apps since I was told I couldn’t be on them because I’m not Benjamin’s biological mother. What nonsense! I feed, clothe and hug the child that feels like my own and over whom my husband co-parents. I very demonstratively ignored two requests to give items for a craft afternoon. Then no extra toilet roll to paint.”
