Car keys in the fridge
That broken nights causing you to do the weirdest things was nothing new to me after having three children. I, too, had shown up at work without a bra, regularly found car keys in the fridge and threw spoonfuls of salt into the coffee instead of sugar. But that I would ever give alcohol to my child to school? I didn’t see that coming.
Glass bottle
Now I must confess that the lemonade (glass bottle, light pink contents and white screw cap) looks suspiciously like my favorite rosé. In addition, Silvester had not put the bottle back in the place in the fridge where it normally is, but still: I should have just checked. After all, I only found out when I stood unsuspectingly at the door of the classroom in the afternoon waiting for my daughter and the teacher took me aside for a while…

I could see from everything that she didn’t know how to start, but after a few stutters she said it anyway: ‘There was, uh, alcohol in Isabella’s school cup. Fortunately she noticed it herself by the smell and didn’t take a sip, but I assume that was not the intention?’ With the blush on my jaws I indicated that this was indeed a mistake. That the bottle of lemonade is very similar to the bottle of rosé and that I hadn’t paid attention at all because of my restless night.
Twin
Isabella’s teacher laughed: as a mother of one-year-old twins, she could understand better than anyone that little sleep and hectic mornings are not a great combination for your mother’s brain. I thanked her for her honesty and promised that I would hide the bottle of rosé very well from now on.
