huh! Apple Maps suddenly looks different
The Apple Maps app has apparently been updated and looks different. Check here what the differences are.
We used to navigate with paper maps. Then we all started buying TomTom’s, nowadays we usually find our way through apps with your smartphone. And they keep getting better. Apple Maps (Apple Maps) got an update and it must have gotten better.
Apple Maps looks different
The worldwide update mainly concerns the appearance and design. You may have seen them driving in the past year; the Apple cars scanning the environment. The company is not done with this yet, but they have already rolled out an adjustment. The rest will follow sometime in 2022.
What we see now is that the cards have become a lot greener. And even more color. Experts have noticed this, such as Justin O’Beirne, who tracks changes in Apple’s map material. He was one of the first to notice that Apple has now added more detailed landscape views in more countries. You notice this mainly when navigating. The cards, and therefore the environment, have been given much more color. This is not only green, but also soft yellow. The last color indicates whether there is pasture.
New images
The update has nothing to do with the new images the company took this spring, O’Beirne said. The new view is only visible in navigation mode. In the normal view we still see the old cards with a lot of white. That’s why you can now see the difference so well. We will probably see these improved colors and renderings in all modes in Apple Maps soon.
