Huawei Matepad Paper is going to replace your notepad

Throw away your paper notebook, because the Huawei Matepad Paper is here.

It’s easy to say that a tablet is a substitute for paper. The ease with which you scribble something on a piece of paper is often a better alternative than using your iPad for everything. Writing is also just that little bit better with a pen. How dare we say that this Huawei Matepad will replace your notepad?

Because this is the Huawei Matepad paper is. It’s very simple, actually it’s not a tablet. It’s more like an e-reader that got out of hand. The Matepad Paper therefore borrows the screen technology of an e-reader. They work with E Ink technology, which is different from a screen. E Ink is in black and white and will not work with a backlit display.

Unlike an e-reader, the Huawei Matepad Paper does work with a touchscreen. Huawei supplies a stylus called M-Pencil, with which you can write on the Matebook Paper. On competitors, it often almost feels like you’re just writing on paper, so it’s hoped Huawei has mastered this too. Furthermore, it works more like a kind of e-reader, where the focus is on reading e-book suitable publications and taking notes in the meantime. Surfing the internet or watching movies is not included.

Specs

Less productive devices require less power, so the Huawei Matebook Paper is a bit conservative. ‘Only’ 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, but the documents are less demanding than on regular tablets. The large screen is nice: 1872 x 1404 pixels (227 ppi) on a 10.3 inch large screen. The device is not much larger than 10.3 inches, achieving a screen-to-body ratio of 86.3 percent. The software is based on Huawei HarmonyOS 2, their proprietary operating system.

Unfortunately, we don’t know how expensive the Huawei Matepad Paper is yet, but we hope for a friendly price tag. Then you never have to buy a writing pad again.
