Huawei is committed to sustainability with Mate 40 Pro: what about that?

Huawei has provided more information on how it takes the environment into account. The manufacturer reveals that the Huawei Mate 40 Pro is the most durable phone from the manufacturer. What does the manufacturer take into account?

Huawei Mate 40 Pro most durable

In our Huawei Mate 40 Pro review we were already very enthusiastic about the new high-end smartphone from the manufacturer. The device is packed with powerful hardware, has a great camera and good battery life. Nevertheless, there is another important aspect to report about the Huawei Mate 40 Pro. According to the Chinese manufacturer, this device is the most durable phone ever from the manufacturer.

In total, there is a 28 percent reduction in plastic packaging material. In addition, paper documentation has been reduced by 90 percent. Only 3.8 percent of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro packaging consists of plastic. In the infographic below, Huawei takes a closer look at this, and shows where it has made gains in sustainability.

For example, it can be seen that the Quick Start Guide now has 44 pages, instead of 340 pages. Furthermore, 100 percent biodegradable Soy ink is used and Huawei has also stopped using shrink film. For every 10 million pieces, all this means 18,000 kg less plastic and 12,080 tons less CO2 emissions. Thanks to the Huawei trade-in service, 500,000 used phones have found new owners since 2015. This also contributes to a more sustainable future.

However, Huawei does not stop with the Mate 40 Pro. The brand wants to recycle 3,000 tons of electronic waste again this year. Furthermore, the brand wants to reduce CO2 emissions, increase energy efficiency and set targets to further reduce CO2 emissions.
