Huawei has started using Snapdragon chips, also for HarmonyOS

Huawei is preparing for the formal introduction of its HarmonyOS operating system for smartphones, which it wants to free itself from its dependence on Android. This is a solution caused by extreme necessity.

Due to restrictions on the part of the US government, Huawei cannot trade with Google, which is reflected in the fact that it simply cannot insert the relevant services into its smartphones. At the same time, customers have been accustomed to these over the years of using Android smartphones, which Huawei’s smartphones currently place as an outsider.

It is, of course, that the Chinese giant has really high hopes for the new operating system from its own workshop. It is a clearly defined path, along which he gradually wants to get back to the former gloom.

The ceremonial unveiling of the next version of HarmonyOS is scheduled for tomorrow, June 2, 2021. As is customary in such presentations, more and more information is gradually coming to the public about what will be on the agenda tomorrow.

A summary of expected products and news was published by the HuaweiCentral portal, which refers to the well-known “information carrier” from the Weibo social network. He points out that Huawei is largely reaching for Qualcomm’s processors.

Flood of smart devices

Huawei is expected to introduce several new smart products alongside the new version of HarmonyOS tomorrow. Specifically mentioned are the new Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro smart watches, new smart TVs, tablets or 4G versions of flagship smartphones such as the Mate 40, Mate X2 and Nova 8. The key information is that all 4G smartphones should come with Snapdragon chips instead Kirinu.

An important figure in the whole presentation should be the Huawei P50 smartphone. The much-anticipated flagship Huawei P50 will be the first smartphone to hit the market with the HarmonyOS operating system.

Kirin seems to get 9000 in the wreath, but only in the case of the 5G version. It is mentioned that a 4G model with the Snapdragon 888 chip will also be introduced. Tomorrow’s presentation should therefore be full of information about new smartphones.

Tablet MatePad Pro 2: Three sizes, different processors

The new MatePad Pro 2 family of tablets is also coming. Previous information said that a version with a 10.8-inch and 12.6-inch diagonal is being prepared. In both cases, the tablet arrives with the HarmonyOS operating system.

Now we learn that Huawei reached for the Kirin 9000 chip for the larger model, while the smaller of the pair gets the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870. It’s a rather interesting decision, but that’s not the end of it.

The latest leak states that a third model will be introduced. This time with a 12.2-inch diagonal and an unspecified chip from a Qualcomm workshop.

HarmonyOS officially on the Qualcomm platform

The HarmonyOS operating system will officially and fully support the Qualcomm platform with everything related to it. This announcement is currently receiving a very positive response.

This is a sensible move on the part of Huawei that can only help it. He is already preparing several devices in cooperation with Qualcomm. It looks like Huawei is finally getting a taste for another chip, which should be very pleasing for end customers.
