Huawei gets a kick after a ban on Intel

During Donald Trump’s presidency, Huawei was hit hard by a trade ban. There were a few exceptions, accounting for hundreds of billions in revenue for American companies. With the end of Trump’s reign in sight, Huawei gets one more kick after. Intel, among others, is no longer allowed to trade with the Chinese company.

Huawei has lost Intel

After all the fuss surrounding the sabotage of Chinese companies, Trump gives one more kick. Huawei was no longer allowed to use American services such as Google. There were a few exceptions to this, but they are now also suddenly withdrawn, Reuters reports.

The medium has an e-mail describing how the US Commerce Department is giving a kind of parting gift to China. The government agency “plans to reject the majority of all license applications for export to Huawei and cancel some issued licenses.”

This means that Huawei has lost Intel’s chips, among other things. The chip maker has reportedly been notified of the revocation of all licenses for trade with Huawei. It is not known exactly which other companies are no longer allowed to trade with Huawei.

Incidentally, it is ironic that the government body is still quickly tightening up the sanctions. According to the medium, all deals and licenses generated sales of $ 400 billion. Companies like Intel are now missing out on huge sums of money because of alleged (and never actually proven) malpractices by Huawei.

If Biden wants to make friends in China after his inauguration, he will probably be able to provide the licenses again. Until then, Huawei will have to make do with in-house hardware and software.
