Huawei MateStation X as competition for iMacs

At an event in China, Huawei presented the MateStation X, which turned out to be a possible Alternative to the iMac would like to present from Apple. Both the chic design and the equipment are impressive. Windows 10 is included as the operating system, Huawei also promises seamless communication with its own HarmonyOS system (source: Huawei at Weibo).

The screen of the Huawei MateStation X comes on a 28.2 inches diagonal with a 3-by-2 format. The resolution is 3,840 x 2,560 pixels and the brightness is up to 500 nits. According to the manufacturer, the IPS panel can display 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space with a contrast ratio of 1,200 to 1. Externally, the MateStation X is strongly reminiscent of the MateView monitor from Huawei. The case is made of aluminum and the edges are much narrower than the Apple iMac (2021). There was no need for a big chin.

The equipment promises no absolute top performance, but should be more than sufficient in many cases. For the processor, customers have the choice between a Ryzen 5 5600H and a Ryzen 7 5800H with six or eight cores. When it comes to gaming, there are clear advantages compared to the Apple counterpart. There are no options for working or permanent storage; 16 GB DDR4 RAM and an SSD with 512 GB capacity are always used. Stereo speakers and even a small subwoofer are included.

Initially, Huawei would like to offer its MateStation X in the home market. The manufacturer has not explained when the all-in-one computer will also be available in Europe. The prices in China are between 1,314 and 1,578 euros.
