How to view your Nest cameras on PC (Update)
Google will now let you view the camera feed of your Nest doorbell and security cameras on a website. It serves as an alternative to the Google Home app and it is mainly aimed at PC users.
Update 21/12/2022: The website is now available to users. We have edited and republished this article.
Camera feed Google Home website
Google has launched a feature that is useful for Nest users with security cameras or video doorbells. There is now a custom interface where you can follow the feed of your cameras via a website, Google says in a blog post.
You can not only view live images via home.google.com, but it is also possible to place multiple feeds next to each other. This is ideal for those who have a large computer monitor. You can easily switch between camera feeds via the new web page and it is also possible to zoom in and check the status of your cameras. You can also activate or deactivate cameras remotely.
That is how it works.
Anyone who wants to use the new website must be logged in with their Google account. Then you press OK, after Google has shown in a notification that the website is currently only a ‘preview’. According to Google, the website works with the following Nest products:
- Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Cam (powered)
- Nest Cam with spotlight (powered)
- Nest Doorbell (battery), Nest Doorbell (mains powered), and Nest Doorbell (mains powered, 2nd gen)
- Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor
- Nest Cam IQ Indoor and Nest Cam IQ Outdoor
For Google products only
It is striking that the website only works for Google’s own cameras and doorbells and not for other supported products in the Google Home app. Arlo, for example, has extensive integration in the Home app, because it is possible to view your camera feed directly in the app.
