How to set up Messenger to send SMS? (for beginners)
If you have a Facebook account and you actively use this social network, it will most likely be one of your regular communicators Messenger. Nowadays, it also mediates writing messages on Instagram, and in the future we could probably look forward to a greater connection with the WhatsApp service, which is operated by the same company (formerly Facebook, Inc., today Meta Platforms, Inc.). Messenger is anyway now definitely more than just an ordinary online chat and one of its advanced capabilities is the need to send and receive SMS.
After the first installation of the Messenger application, the tool immediately asks if you do not want to set it up for SMS management, but if you have ignored this prompt by mistake, we will advise you on an additional connection. It’s easy and there are two ways to do it.
Settings in the application. Like Signal, for example, Messenger has the option of turning on the role of primary SMS administrator directly in its settings. To switch, open the main menu (top left icon) and in the SMS menu, switch the switches to On and Default SMS application. In the next lines you have the option to change several other parameters, including colors and sounds for “text” conversations. This makes it easier to distinguish them from those sent online.
Android settings. Default application preferences for any system operation can be manually changed in one place. In addition to the default browser or music and video player, there is also an option for the primary SMS application. Offer in which you will also find other installed applications worthy of this feature, located in Settings> Applications> Default application. The name of the last item may differ slightly in different systems and may be hidden in the advanced menu after the three dots.
Of course, the application can collect this right in exactly the same ways and use other tools for SMS. Between interesting and reliable alternatives we can include, for example, the mentioned Signal, which is mostly very secure and discreet, or Google News with the possibility of sending RCS.
