How old is my iPhone? This way you can check it quickly

Unfortunately, Apple has not added a setting that allows you to check the age of your iPhone, but with a smart trick you can find out exactly when your smartphone was originally delivered. This works as follows.

Here’s how to check the age of your iPhone:

  1. Open your iPhone’s Settings app;
  2. Tap on ‘General’ and choose ‘Info’;
  3. Behind ‘Serial number’ you will find the unique number of your iPhone;
  4. Now go to Apple’s dedicated website;
  5. Enter the serial number and code and click ‘Continue’.

The next screen shows you which model your iPhone is, with three colored circles underneath: valid date of purchase, telephone technical support, and repair and service coverage. The third is important for this tip.

This is because it says when the date of your warranty expires or has expired. Apple gives every iPhone a standard one-year manufacturer’s warranty from the day it is sold. By simply subtracting one year from the date shown on this page, you will know exactly on which date your device was originally sold.

iPhone older than two years: try this

The step-by-step plan above only works if you have an iPhone that is less than two years old. If you have an older device, you can give the website below a try. This website looks a bit simple, but works great.

  • Surf to the sndeep.info website;
  • Click on the ‘Apple’ button;
  • Enter your iPhone’s serial number in the text box (check the steps above if you need to look up your device’s serial number first);
  • Click on ‘Show Info’.

Useful information for buying or selling your device

If your iPhone is less than a year old, you will see the line ‘Limited Warranty’ in this settings screen. There you can immediately see on which date your warranty expires. Subtract a year from this and then you know exactly how old the device is.

Knowing the age of your device can come in handy at different times. For example, it is useful information if you want to buy or sell an iPhone.
